Phoebes bedtime routine

The four B’s

Bath, Bottle, Book and Bed.

This routine started around 4 months old specially with the bottle, book and bed. Before then she would have a bath once a week as she didn’t need one daily.

So let’s start with bath time.

First off she’s just had her nap around 4 o’clock then dinner around 5 o’clock and finished up and had a pudding by 5.40ish. So by now she’s wiped yoghurt all over the highchair put dinner all over her legs, face and arms🙄

So most days she has a bath and she loves bath time anyway so she burns off some energy before bed.

To start off I run the bath with warm water and add either Johnson’s bedtime baby bath Priced at £1.99 for 300ml or a cheaper version mamia which is aldi £0.65p for 100ml but it’s not as strong or as good but i always get a spare in case I run out of Johnson’s.

So I’m very generous when it comes to adding it as it doesn’t bubble like bath Creme it’s more of the smell it leaves when the water hits it and mixes together 🙌🏼 it smells amazing and not going to lie I have used it for my baths and it makes you so relaxed and skin feels amazing afterwards.

So once that is mixed together and cold water was added to get the right temperature I would then add all her bath toys in.

I would take her outfit off and nappy and then place her feet in first then slowly lay her down.

Now a lot of people used bath seats and I did when she was tiny tiny. Until we hit 3 months she tried kicking her legs all the time when in the bath seat so I thought I’d let water out and see what she does so laid her flat and she was well away! I will insert a video below so you can see how happy she was for the first time we tried it 🙌🏼15th June.

So anyway once I laid her down she would kick around for a minute then roll herself round to her tummy and play with her bath toys and books. She learnt to roll over herself in the bath around the same time she rolled on the floor at 5 months 👏🏼 took her some time to swing herself round but now she does it so quick I don’t even have time to wash her belly😂

So I let her play for a bit with her toys and I wet her hair. we still use the baby soft sponges from boots think they were 2 in a pack for £0.90p.

These are her favourites since she was 3 months old.

So after she’s played and used some energy I then I give her a good clean 🙌🏼

I have always used Johnson’s head-to-toe baby bath £2.99 for 500ml. We have had the same bottle since birth it’s only just gone half way and she’s 8 months old! You don’t need to use a lot and it’s fab! Suitable for sensitive skin and you can also use it for their hair as well.

Phoebe never came up in a rash or was irritated by it so we stuck with it👏🏼

So just one pump full onto a sponge does the whole body. So I do her face, then her back as she’s always on her belly, feet, bum then rolled her over and quickly do under her arms and neck, then belly and private area but I have to be speedy other wise she’s already flipped 😂

Once that’s done and rained off she rolls back over and I do her hair.

Now when she was smaller she still had a lot of her but barely and cradle cap which was fab! But she had it slightly when she was around 2 months old. So we used this amazing cradle cap shampoo!!! ⬇️

Think it’s only £1.99 and you use it every time you bath your baby until it’s gone. We used it 4 times and it had disappeared 👏🏼 it was just fantastic.

So after we got rid of the cradle cap we went onto Johnson’s baby shampoo price normally is £1.50. Now the bottle shown in the photo, we have had that since she was born so it’s only half gone and like I said 8 months later and still plenty left you don’t need much as it foams nicely. Smells amazinggggg to! She has the newborn smell every time I use it🤤😂💖

So I then let it sit in her hair for a little bit then rinse it off (trying to avoid the eyes😂)

Once that’s done it’s time to get out.

So I place the hooded towel on the floor ready, pick her up as easy as it sounds it’s not😂 she’s very wiggly and loves to kick her legs around so I get very wet 😂

Place her down into the towel and ever since she was small I always wrapped her up like a tortilla 😂 and she’s loved it ever since.

So I place one arm down the side stretch her legs out wrap one side and tuck it in then do the other side 😂 here’s a little photo cause it’s to cute to miss⬇️

Once we are out, we go sit in her room and get ready for bed it’s normally 6.30 by now. so I use the Johnson’s bedtime lotion £2.99 300ml. which is just 🤤 smells amazing! So once she is dry and I make sure all the creases are dry I pop on a fresh nappy and then rub the lotion all over her legs, arms, chest, neck and face.

Then either a vest and sleepsuit or just sleepsuit depending on weather.

Then dry her hair and we are set to go.

We then pick a book out now I went a bit crazy when she was around 4 weeks old as I found out theworks did 10 for 10 pound so nearly every month I got ten books😂 here’s a few that phoebe absolutely loves and giggles to when I read them to her⬇️

Once we have chosen our book I make a bottle up and she will either drink it while reading or have it after.

Once I have read the book once I then go through it again and point at certain things out in the book and she either smiles cause I say it in a funny voice or she tries to grab it 💁🏼‍♀️

So if she’s having the bottle while reading and has finished it up, I burp her then ask if she’s ready for bed normally she’s rubbing her eyes by this point if not she can play with her toys. If this happens she normally plays for 20 minutes and then begins to rub her eyes.

Her bedtime is 7.30-8. Anything passed 8 I no I’m in for a shit night. But that’s very rare and we are lucky she’s always gone down around 7-8 when smaller as well as now.

Once she’s ready for bedtime I take her in her room wined up her cot mobile and turn on her myhummy. I place 3 dummy’s in her cot so she’s got plenty to reach for. I place her down tuck her in and say goodnight. Put the cot mobile on and walk out. She normally self settles in 10-15 minutes and she’s normally down for the night or wakes around 11.30 for a bottle but we are slowly working at getting rid of that one🤞🏻😂

Then she either wakes around 4 for another bottle if she didn’t wake her the 11.30 one.

If she wakes before I go to bed I feed her and then she doesn’t wake till 6 in the morning. 🙌🏼

Sleep tight😴
