So where do I begin…
Christmas is such a lovely but also hard time of the year everyone panics and over spends and to be honest I’m not really sure why?
We give gifts to show people we care for them and love them but we do that all year round. So why go crazy for one day.
Yes it nice to thank people for what they have done all year round with gifts but recently I have been thinking (well tbh since I got crap pay from maternity )😂 that people don’t need to be showered with a millions gifts to be shown how much you care. I few gift token presents and actually being there for that person means more to some than presents. Don’t get me wrong I loooove presents and I’m sure everyone does. But when you’re on a budget and can’t afford to splash out the cash. You have to do what you can and it being phoebes first Christmas I wanted to make it special.
We put up our tree on the 20th November – yes I no that’s super early and no I won’t be doing it that early next year.
It was more the fact it was a lovely brand new tree for our lovely new home. And it was 7ft and I knew I didn’t have enough decorations to fill it up and I needed to no what to get.
We went to a few garden centres, saw so many pretty lights. Phoebe loved every moment and took it all in.
We also went to see Father Christmas. Here is a little video I made.
I will also upload my video of putting up the tree further down.
Phoebe didn’t cry or make a fuss when meeting the big chap with a white beard.
I can’t wait till she’s older and understands it so much more! The magic of Christmas really does come back to you when you have a child.
We didn’t put out milk, cookies or a carrot this year cause it was pointless. I think around 2/3 years old they really get into it, I just can’t wait.
We didn’t go silly this Christmas as she had no clue what was going on and wouldn’t no what’s new and what’s old.
We got her a Christmas Day box which she can re use every year. We also have a personalised Christmas sack we didn’t use it this year as we didn’t have enough gifts to fill it up I’m sure next year it will be filled to the brim😂
We got her tomy squeak eggs, twirlywoos DVD set, a flashing spinning thing, that’s not my santa and clothes.
We knew she’d get plenty from family and friends and she sure did.
Running out of room dreading her 1st birthday. I recorded snippets of our Christmas Day as it’s so hard to capture every moment and this is a day we didn’t want to forget.
The whole week leading up to Christmas we saw friends, and family and I can tell you now it was the most knackering thing ever😂 for her and for me. Don’t think we have done that much socialising in a week since she was first born.
We all got spoilt and we are ever so grateful.
christmas eve we spend it with the OH family it’s like we get to Christmas days which is so lovely and I’m sure phoebe will love this when she’s older!
We got the Other half’s parents a lovely hamper and same for his nan. We got his sister some bits like a new set of brushes, a drinking game, bathbombs and candles. And her partner a gin set.
My side
for my brother we just did the kids to save money – so I got his daughter a LOL doll and he got phoebe a Jellycat penguin.
My sister we just did kids and ourselves not partners. I got her a Funko pop, candle and bath bits. She got me a cool door mat as I needed one 🙌🏼 and some funky plates.
For the kids I got her son a Fortnite calendar with chocolate and her daughter a paw patrol colouring and sticker set- she got phoebe a leapfrog talking dog thing and she loves it.
Other brother just got alcohol and smelly s for his girlfriend – he gave us £20, socks, chocolate, penguin salt and pepper shakers and gin pong.
He got phoebe a toy penguin, money and a hat and glove set!
Not going to list everything as I’d be here all day.
But everyone got spoilt and we all had great fun, ate plenty and spent so much time with family it was perfect.
so here’s my video of our first Christmas as a family..
Also here’s the tree going up🎄
Hope everyone had a lovely merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.
